JoyPeek

How it works

JoyPeek does for Joybuy what price trackers have long done for Amazon: it records the price of every product page, day after day, and tells you whether today's deal is really one.

1. Price tracking

Every tracked product is checked at least once a day. We record the displayed price, the RRP announced by Joybuy and the availability. If nothing changes, nothing is stored; if the price moves, a point is added to the curve. After a few weeks the curve tells the product's story: its real lows, its fake discounts, its stock-outs.

Checks come from two sources: our own daily checks, and the product pages viewed by members who installed the JoyPeek browser extension. The bigger the community, the fresher the data.

2. The real reference price

"RRP £199.99, today £89.99" is impressive. JoyPeek compares that RRP with the price actually charged over the previous weeks. If the product was never sold at the crossed-out price, the page says so plainly, with the lowest price seen and the 90-day average.

Some prices are reserved for the Joybuy mobile app: they are flagged as such, so you do not go looking for a price that does not exist on the website.

3. Price-drop alerts

You choose a target price on a product page. As soon as a check comes in below it, you get an email with the link. Alerts will be unlimited with a free account. They open after the launch phase, once the first curves make sense.

4. Reviews and deliveries

A JoyPeek review is tied to an order: purchase date, delivery time actually observed, any fees on arrival, and what the product is worth once unboxed. No anonymous review without a purchase, no inflated rating. Observed delivery times are aggregated by dispatch warehouse, so you know what to expect before ordering.

5. The browser extension

For Chrome and Edge first. On a Joybuy product page it shows the JoyPeek curve and the lowest known price, without leaving the page. In return, the price you see is added to the database anonymously: no personal data, only the price, the title and the product page address.

And Joybuy in all this?

JoyPeek is independent from Joybuy and JD.com. We have no privileged access: we read what any visitor sees. Once the partnership programme is active, some links to Joybuy will be affiliate links: if you buy after clicking, JoyPeek earns a commission, at no extra cost to you. That is what funds the service and keeps it free.
